A Schrenschleifer was probably not blessed with earthly goods. He had to live frugally and since necessity is the mother of invention, Mrs. Scherenschleifer invented this dish.
Fry a little fat, bacon cubes and onion well, sprinkle flour over it, depending on how much sauce you need. Add water, bay leaf spice and a little vinegar. Slowly cook the diced potatoes in the sauce. Sprinkle with parsley. Scherenschleifer had a brown sauce and was eaten with a spoon.
