For the farmhouse bread, put the flour, salt, bread spices and about 2 handfuls of sunflower seeds in a bowl, mix well and crumble in the yeast.
Then add the water and – preferably with your hands – make a medium firm dough and let it rise covered (about 30 – 45 minutes).
Then form a loaf and cover it with the remaining sunflower seeds. Let the bread rise again for about 30 – 45 minutes.
If you like, dust a crockery hanger with flour, place it (flour side up) in a bread basket and then add the remaining sunflower seeds to the hanger.
Then place the dough in the bread basket and can rise nicely in it. Place the loaf on a baking tray with baking paper and bake on the middle shelf at 250 degrees for about 20 – 25 minutes (until the bread is golden brown).
Turn down the temperature to about 180 degrees and finish baking the bread for about 25 – 30 minutes – depending on the stove and your taste.
Preparation Tip:
Tastes simply fantastic only with butter and a little chives! The farmhouse bread is perfect for freezing.
