First, wash and clean the strawberries, halve or quarter them, put them in a bowl and lightly sugar them.
Reduce the balsamic vinegar and honey in a saucepan over low heat (do not boil), stirring constantly (about 5 minutes).
Then let cool briefly, pour over strawberries and gently fold in.
Arrange in small bowls and serve garnished with basil or mint.

The delicate and nuanced aroma of the mildly aged balsamic vinegar goes wonderfully with fresh strawberries. It goes very wonderfully with vanilla ice cream.
